Laying the Foundation for a Healthy Future

Project HOPE has helped to build and train the staff necessary to operate hospitals and clinics, especially those targeted to the needs of children. These facilities provide a unique vehicle through which training resources can be focused thus making the maximum contribution to the improvement of the health of children in developing nations. These facilities can also serve as national training centers to train physicians, nurses, administrators, and allied health professionals from across their respective countries or regions.

Shanghai Children’s Medical Center, Shanghai, China: China’s leading pediatric medical treatment center, as well as a national training center for health professionals, providing educational opportunities in the most advanced techniques in pediatric medicine.

University Children’s Hospital in Krakow, Krakow, Poland: the Zablocki Center in the Polish-American Children’s Hospital serves as a clinical, research, and training leader for Poland and as a pediatric center of excellence for other institutions throughout Central Europe

Speransky Children’s Hospital No. 9, Moscow, Russia: renovated space within the surgical wing for an intermediate burn care unit, a skin bank, clinic rooms, laboratories, and a library as well as the upgrading of existing facilities after Russia’s worst rail accident in history in 1989

Izmit Rehabilitation Center, Izmit, Turkey: provided training for Turkish health professionals to meet the physical and psychological rehabilitation needs for adults and children in response earthquakes of 1999

Maternal and Child Health Clinics, Santo Domingo, Monte Plata, and San Cristobal, Dominican Republic: equipped and trained staff for two maternal and child health clinics which now offer basic health care and preventive health services in under served communities, with a third clinic underway

National Training Institute, Cairo, Egypt: helped train faculty and support staff to provide state-of-the-art training and continuing education to physicians, nurses and allied health professionals using high-technology training methods, including training labs with simulators, Internet usage, telecommunications, and telemedicine
