Africa is a continent in health turmoil as the AIDS pandemic continues reversing progress, with Sub-Saharan Africa suffering the greatest toll. With life expectancy rates falling below 40 in some countries, there is a sense of urgency compelling Project HOPE to be a part of the solution to reverse these negative health trends and protect the lives of millions of children, women and men who are dying needlessly. 

Project HOPE is renowned for engaging and empowering women and families by creating sustainable, integrated, community based health programs, systems and services of excellence. 

Our long history in Africa – beginning in the mid-1960s with a visit of the SS HOPE to Guinea – demonstrates the organization’s ability to address the evolving environment of health issues on the African continent.  

Current and future programmatic focus includes:

• Eradication of poverty and hunger 
• Reduction child mortality/improvement of maternal health
• Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases 
• Support of Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OCV) and their caretakers
