Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Nursing Training Program
- This program will enable cardiac intensive care nurses to take better care of children (especially those less than six years of age) with cyanotic heart disease. Special focus is on complex heart defects and its repair, complex heart surgeries, and cardiac surgery in newborns.

AIDs outreachHIV/AIDS Prevention - Project HOPE continues to implement HIV/AIDS Prevention Education program, in collaboration with Sansai District Hospital, Maejo University, Payap University and Chiang Mai University. This program strives to decrease the number of new HIV cases, especially among women and children as well as to equip adolescents with skills and knowledge to affect appropriate behavior change to prevent HIV infection. The program takes an innovative approach that comprises of premarital counseling and peer education.

 

Timeline

1997 - Project HOPE invited to provide humanitarian assistance to indigent children of the northern region suffering from chronic disease
1998 - Partner Education Program begins, as a result of this request. Working with five area hospitals, Project HOPE provides important health information to pediatric patients and their caretakers while ensuring they also receive appropriate care and treatment.
1999 - AIDS prevention activities begin with a focus on premarital counseling services and educational outreach targeting university students
2001 - Cervical Cancer Prevention Program begins to raise awareness among women and enhance local health stations and hospitals to diagnose, treat, and manage cervical cancer patients
2002 - Project HOPE introduces Village Health Bank program in northern provinces
2004 - After Project HOPE leadership and local health officials assess damage caused by Indian Ocean tsunami, supplies and equipment is purchased to fill identified needs
2005 - Indian Ocean tsunami exposed need for training of critical care nurses. Thus Project HOPE begins an intense program using lecture, fellowships, and practical applications.
