Perinatal Center of Excellence program – This new three-year program, which just recently launched, will build the capacity of a network of primary, secondary and tertiary health care facilities in the Brasov region to significantly reduce perinatal mortality and morbidity and  to serve as a model for high quality perinatal care in the country.

Timeline

1991 Project HOPE launched nation-wide infant Hepatitis B immunization campaign, bringing 750,000 doses of vaccines, needles, syringes, and needle disposal units worth $4.7 million. A shipment of 50,000 doses of influenza vaccine, antibiotics, and medical supplies worth $8.2 million was also sent
1992 Initiation of program to improve maternal and child health in Romania through training faculty of nursing schools to implement revised nursing curricula and implement clinical education programs for nursing students; to prepare nursing faculty and nurse practitioners in contemporary nursing theory and practice; and develop model clinical units that exemplify contemporary nursing practice
2000 - Donation of OB/GYN equipment to the Dr Ioan Aurel Sbracea Hospital in Brasov
